Activated Charcoal Chia Pudding

While there are still blood oranges in the shops, I had to post one more quick breakfast recipe.  Working with Pür Kauppa I have become slightly obsessed with trying to boost my health with some natural health food products.  Activated charcoal is a great product to give your body a mini detox.  It traps toxins in the body and naturally removes them and also prevents bloating and gas formation.  I wasn’t too keen on drinking the charcoal dissolved in a glass of water, so decided to add it to a chia breakfast bowl.

For another great chia idea check out myCoconut Chia Pudding and Mango Smoothie Bowl

Activated Charcoal Chia Pudding – serves 2

50 g Urtekram organic chia seeds

2 dl coconut milk

1 dl rice milk

a couple of drops of vanilla extract

a pinch of salt

a tbsp of maple syrup (optional)

1/2 – 1 tsp Kiki Health Activated Charcoal

fruit and nuts to decorate

Mix the charcoal, coconut milk, rice milk, vanilla, salt and syrup (if using) until the charcoal is fully dissolved.  If you are just starting out with charcoal I recommend trying just 1/2 a tsp of charcoal or as I did add the charcoal to half the chia pudding and leave the other half without.  Add the chia seeds and leave to stand for at least 30 minutes, preferably overnight.  You may need to add a little extra rice milk, if your chia is too thick.  It should be the consistency of thick yoghurt.

Spoon the chia pudding into bowls and top with fresh fruit and nuts.  I used blood oranges, strawberries, blueberries, and almonds

    1. Hi – yes you can use any kind of milk you have, I use rice milk as the coconut milk I have is so thick and rich it is a bit too much by itself. You can even try the recipe without any sweetener, depending on how sweet you like things. I often just use sweet fruit or check out my chia mango smoothie bowl, there the smoothie part sweetens the whole dish. Hope this helps and let me know how you get on
