Sitruuna-oreganopopcorn
Just a quick snack post today. I have just got back from two weeks in Berlin and I am busy preparing a guide to some of the best cafes I discovered in one of my favourites cities. This popcorn snack is super delicious, savoury and flavourful and super easy to make. The lemony mixture creates a creamy buttery taste (without the butter) and freshly ground pepper adds a slight heat. So ditch the expensive packets of posh popcorn you seem to find everywhere these days and give this a go yourself!
Lemon and Oregano Popcorn – recipe for 1 greedy person
1/2 dl organic popcorn (thanks makrobios for including this in my goody bag!)
juice and zest of half a lemon
1 tbsp coconut oil, melted and a little extra for popping
a handful of fresh oregano, finely chopped
salt and freshly ground pepper
Mix the oil, zest, lemon juice and oregano and set to one side.
Take a heavy based saucepan and add just enough coconut oil to lightly coat the bottom of your pan. You only need enough to stop the corn from sticking. Add the popcorn, cover with a lid and begin to roast over a medium heat. Regularly swirl your pan to stop the popcorn from burning.
You should eventually hear the popcorn begin to pop, once the noise dies down, remove from the heat and carefully remove the lid. Add the lemon/ oregano mixture and season with salt and an generous amount of black pepper. Mix thoroughly and serve immediately.
What a tasty spicy snack, thanks for sharing!
